Հարավայի Սուդանը երիտասարդ պետություն է։ 2011 թ.–ի ռազմական հեղաշրջման արդյունքում նա առանձնացավ Սուդանից։ Մի քանի տասնամյակ Սուդանում արյունահեղ պատերազմ էր ընթանում սևամորթ և արաբ բնակչության միջև, ինչի արդյունքում միլիոնավոր խաղաղ բնակիչներ սպանվեցին։

2000 թ.–ի սկզբին վերջապես սկսվեցին բանակցությունները, և 2011–ի հանրաքվեի արդյունքում Սուդանի հարավային մասն անկախացավ։ Լուծվեցի՞ն արդյոք այդքանով խնդիրները։ Ցավոք, ոչ։

2013 թ.–ի դեկտեմբերին պետության մայրաքաղաք Ջուբեում էթնիկական հողի վրա զանգվածային անկարգություններ սկսվեցին։ Բանն այն էր, որ նախագահ Սալվար Կիերը դինկա ցեղախմբից էր, իսկ փոխնախագահ Ռիեկ Մաշարը` նուեր ցեղից։ Ներքին հակամարտության արդյունքում սպանվեց ավելի քան 1000 մարդ։

Մայրաքաղաք Ջուբեում չկա ջրատար, կոյուղի, ասֆալտապատ ճանապարհներ, իսկ 3-4 հարկանի շինություններն այստեղ եզակի հանդիպող երևույթներ են։ Իսկ ծայրամասային Լիր քաղաքի մասին ընդհանրապես խոսելն ավելորդ է. տները վառված են, դիակները` ջրհորները լցրած, երեխաները խաղալիքների փոխարեն խաղում են ինքնաձիգերով, և դժվար է նրանց կերպարանքը մարդկային համարել։

 

Վերջերս «Բժիշկներ առանց սահմանների» կազմակերպությունը վերսկսել է իր գործունեությունը Հարավային Սուդանում, մասնավորապես Լիրում։ Երեք ամիս առաջ կազմակերպության կառուցած հիվանդանոցն ավիրվել էր անկարգությունների արդյունքում։ Այժմ նրանք կրկին կերակրում են տեղի երեխաներին, բայց դա ընդհանուր վիճակը չի փոխում։
