Բեռլինյան պատը, որը բաժանում էր արևմտյան Բեռլինը կոմունիստական Արևելյան Բեռլինից, կառուցվեց 1961թ․-ին։ Այն Սառը պատերազմի խորհրդանիշներից մեկն է, որի մասնիկներն այսօր կարելի է գտնել աշխարհի տարբեր անկյուններում։  Տարբեր տվյալներով՝ Բեռլինյան պատն անցնելու փորձի արդյունքում զոհվել է 125-1245 մարդ, եղել են հարյուրավոր վիրավորներ, ավելի քան 75000 մարդ ձերբակալվել է: 1989թ․-ի նոյեմբերի 9-ին Արևելյան Բեռլինում սկսված ապստամբությունների արդյունքում հազարավոր մարդիկ անցան պատը՝ հատելով Արևելյան Բեռլինի սահմանները, և պատը վերջնականապես քանդվեց։
